Keep your site up to date.

Little things on a site make big impressions. Nothing says “I don’t care” like an out of date web site.

A web site needs to be kept current. A page that offers a fall special needs to be changed when that season is over. Winter Holiday greetings should not hang around until summer. An announcement of a special event needs to be removed immediately after the event is over. Make sure your web designer has a new page ready to make the update as soon as it is needed.

Most web sites have a copyright notice somewhere on the page; they need to be updated every year. Schedule that chore with your designer so that it is finished as soon as possible after the New Year. If you are editing your own blog or other site be sure to take care of this detail.

A good site is a combination of lots of small things done well. Maintaining a current, up to date site is one of those essential things.
